Herb's Ride

The Bugatti Veyron. When you hear the name of this car you know that it’s something special. The Bugatti Veyron that we saw was from Herb Chambers personal collection. Bugatti has been making exclusive vehicles since its founding in 1909. Ettore Bugatti’s family was quite successful before Ettore even went into the car business. His father Carlo Bugatti was a successful furniture and jewelry designer. It’s kind of crazy to think that a man like Carlo would have a son that’s company would end up producing an incredibly exclusive and multiple record holding car. The Veyron is the car that Bugatti produced first after the classic Bugatti EB110.

The exterior of this car is eye catching no matter how you look at it. Some people think that this car looks absolutely awful while others think that it’s amazing. I think that it is sort of special and nice in its own odd unique way. Herb Chambers Veyron had an interesting black and white finish to it. I thought that it suited the car fairly nicely. This car has a small-ish oval air vent at the front and then to the sides of it there is a more elongated oval. There are two more air vents on the roof as well and also vents on both sides of the car located behind the doors. The Bugatti Veyron doesn’t have hard aggressive lines or angles like something like the Lamborghini Aventador, but this still doesn’t look like your average car. Even the height of this car makes it special. This car is 46.8 inches. The rear of this beast isn’t overly complicated either. One thing that you notice when you see a car like this is the width of it at the back. The Bugatti Veyron is 79 inches wide, that is 20 inches wider that a Mercedes 2016 G550. The rear end lights are similar to that of a Nissan GTR where there are two circles on each side with the one closer to the inside being slightly smaller than the outermost one. There is just one rather large exhaust pipe in the middle. You have a pretty clear view of the engine at the back too. It’s placed in front of the massive wing at the back.

The reputation for this car is mostly because of its engine. This car has an 8 Liter V16 engine. Just let that sink in. This breath-taking engine produces 1,200 horsepower. With that much power the vehicle can reach a top speed of just under 253 miles per hour. This officially broke the Guinness World Record for fastest street production car. The record has since been broken, but by another Bugatti. In order to reach these crazy speeds it requires the help of some smart computer science. As the Veyron approaches about 140 mph the car lowers itself from its normal 5 inches to about 3. While this is going on a rear wing raises up to increase downforce to make the Bugatti stick to whatever it’s driving on.

The interior is outstandingly special to say the least. There is leather absolutely everywhere. It’s on the seats, on the center console, the doors, the gear stick, the dashboard, and the steering wheel. With this being a hypercar you know that you will be getting the best leather that money can buy. The center console has a nice modern sleek metallic finish. It is simple, but you don’t really need fancy anyway. Nothing seems out of place in there. Because this car is unbelievable in every way it will cost you quite a bit. The Bugatti Veyron comes in at a retail price of 1.7 million dollars. If you put the price aside you will see that the Bugatti Veyron is an awe-inspiring machine of a car.
