The Aston Martin DB11, the newest Aston Martin to leave the bespoke company brandishing the DB title. It has definitely earned that name. I was lucky enough to attend the US Debut of this beast and it has so far been one of the highlights of the year. It has elegance, technology, power, it’s just a sophisticated gentleman’s car. It was designed with a 1 to three ratio to make it look very balanced. The bonnet is about ⅓ the length of the car and the windows go down about ⅓ the height of the car. They also designed the DB11 so that it would have a clamshell bonnet made from a single piece of aluminium. This took out bonnet lines that Aston Martin said would ruin the lines of the DB11. They also claim that your brain would subconsciously be drawn to the bonnet lines, but because they are not existent on the DB11 it allows your mind to enjoy the curves and lines of the masterpiece. It also has Vulcan inspired technology mixed in with everything else. This is not a car to mess with.

This car's lines are truly spectacular. Like I mentioned before, without the bonnet lines and those small things, it really makes the car flow, instead of being choppy to the eye. There is a carbon splitter at the front that leads air flow into the massive, classic Aston Martin grill. The led headlights are a change from the long slender lights like that of the DB9 and look more like a revised version of the DB10. Even on the tires, there is a small tip of the hat to Secret Service agent James Bond with 007 written on them. The lines behind the tops of the wheels are there to release some of the air pressure that builds up and is also inspired from the Vulcan. Subtle contours on the hood channel air onto the side of the car, which then passes through small vents built into to body, similar to the BMW i8. This creates additional down force to stick this grand tourer to the surface that it is conquering.

This is a 2 door supercar but with 4 seats, the only difference between this and some of the other 2+2’s is that the back seats in the DB11 actually have room. I will get into more detail about the interior further down in the article. As you make your way around the back of the masterpiece, you will see that the air vent on the side doesn’t have an immediate exit for the air. The air actually goes under the body and exits on a small slit just before the end of the car. This “slit” will raise at certain speeds and will act as a very efficient wing in comparison to its size. The rear lights are a slim red outline of your classic Aston Martin rear lights. Onto the exquisite interior.

This is a special interior for a special car. Spacious and luxurious, it is everything that you would expect from an Aston Martin. The DB11 was built with tall people in mind. A six foot plus person could sit in the passenger seat and still have room to spare. Even the back has a very respectable amount of room. The seats are comfortable, just what you want in a Grand Tourer. The Aston Martin’s model is present on the headrests of the seats. The steering wheel is comfortable with your regular volume and call buttons on it and behind the wheel are normal paddle shifters. Behind the wheel you see the speedometer and everything else on an electric screen. To the right is where you control everything else. On a monitor, you have your options come up. This car is very high tech and engineered to a tee, it even has a 360° camera function for when you want to park in those tight spaces. Overall, another smashing success for the interior of Aston Martin’s luxurious DB11.

With a 5.2L engine the DB11 is a complete beast forcing out a massive 600 horsepower. This car can reach 200 miles per hour, all while riding comfortably. Like I mentioned before, it has some clever aerodynamic additions throughout the body work. All of this great engineering and moving masterpiece can be yours for only $214,820, but hurry because they won’t be there forever. It’s always an option to just wait 3-4 years for the convertible DB11 or about 7 for the next one in line. Aston Martin have not let us down with this one, again.
