If you follow my Instagram @the_greatestcars , you will already know that on August 27th I attended the best car event that I have ever been to. For those of you that don’t already know what event I am referring to it is Dream Ride. It is this great event down in Farmington, Connecticut where all of these incredible cars and motorcycles gather for a day in the middle of this nice field and all of the proceeds go towards the Special Olympics and other charities. I only went to the Dream Show, which was on Sunday and where all of the cars and bikes are, like i said, on this manicured field on display for the public to see their beauty. If you couldn’t already tell, I personally prefer cars over motorcycles, but if the vehicles with two wheels appeal to you more you could see 100’s of them at the show. This event wasn’t the only event/show that was a part of the Dream Ride Experience. Prior to this Sunday there was the chance to see some of the cars going along the east coast for some of the Dream Rides.

My Dream Ride Experience started a year ago when I saw all of these incredible car photos getting posted on social media, so I did some research and found out that they were all coming from the 2016 Dream Ride show and right then and there I made a vow to myself to attend the next years show. I talked my parents to make the two hour drive down to the Farmington Polo Club for a day that I would never forget. I understand that a two hour's drive sounds like quite a lot but it isn’t nearly as much as the 6+ hour drives for the people driving in from Washington D.C. but if you have experienced the event you would understand why they would drive for those amounts of time to reach the show.

The show of 2016 was out of this world with cars like the Bugatti Chiron, Ferrari LaFerrari, Pagani Huayra, McLaren P1, and plenty more, it was difficult to expect much more from but boy was I completely wrong…

The Dream Ride have their own social media accounts and I made sure to keep up with them because as some of the cars register to go to the show they post onto their accounts so the audience can get a slight grasp on what to expect, they still leave some cars as a surprise though.

When I arrived I could see through the fences and the crowds some of what awaited and my breath was instantly taken away. I didn’t know where to start so I just went with what was closest, the line of Lamborghini’s. After admiring a few Huracan’s, Gallardo’s, and Murcielago’s, I stumbled across the crown jewel of all of the Lamborghini’s at Dream Ride. The Lamborghini Centenario. When I saw the car peer through the crown I did a double take because it was a complete surprise and the more I looked at it the more striking it was. I was so obsessed with the full carbon fiber body of the Centenario that I almost didn’t see the Maserati MC12 that was right next to it. I glanced over to my right after taking in the presence of those two beasts of cars and to my shock I see a McLaren 720S just sitting there with both of its doors up in all of its Volcano Orange glory. I originally didn’t like this model and thought that McLaren missed the mark but it has grown on me immensely. To the 720S’s right and past the chrome orange widebody Gallardo was arguably the best sight of the whole show. A line of not one, not two, not three, not even five, but 10 Pagani’s. There were a whopping four Pagani Huayra BC’s and 4 regular Huayra’s. There were two more very special Pagani’s there that day. One of them being the Pagani Huayra Roadster which was only making its second public appearance. And the other one being the Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta, also only making its second public appearance and belonging to Horacio Pagani himself. Keep in mind that it was my very first time just seeing a BC let alone three more. I was in complete awe. To see such an array of automotive masterpieces with the sun glistening off them was a sight that I am honored to have tattooed into my retinas.

After what felt like ages of just admiring Horacio’s work, I moved on to the rest of the show, the Ferrari section was next. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted the two nearly identical matching specced LaFerrari’s. Then to their left was a yellow and white F12 TDF. If that wasn’t already enough, you could find two more LaFerrari’s, both in yellow, and also an Enzo in yellow too. Continuing around the show, you came across the McLaren portion where you could find a selection of multiple 650’s, 675 LT’s, 570’s, and even the new 570 Spyder. If I had to pick my favorite McLaren though, it probably wouldn’t be any of those. It wouldn’t even be the stealth specced grey P1, for me it would have to be the cherry red McLaren P1. It was the first time I had ever seen one in person and the spec was so out there with the front bumper also painted, it was just a 10/10 car for me.

I have already covered the major vehicles that attended the event, but I shouldn’t leave out the others. Under one of the main tents there were dozens of older classics like the Jaguar Mark II. One other mentionable row at the show was this sort of mish mash of cars, but I’m not saying that the mish mash wasn’t a good one. It included three Acura NSX’s in red, white and blue, a black badge Rolls Royce Dawn, and a large line of Nissan GTR’s. If you are in New England or around the area for next years show I highly recommend that you attend and help support the cars and have a day full of seeing cars that you might otherwise never even dream of seeing.
